DAY ONE – Friday 1 June 2018
Marrakesh, Morocco

We will be available to meet you at Marrakesh Menara Airport at approximately 2:00pm. During the afternoon there will be a guided visit to Marrakesh and its old fortified city. There will be time to visit the famous markets and look for a bargain in the colourful shoe, fabric and ceramic stalls. The noise, smells and colours will stay with you for a lifetime!

During the evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner and tour briefing with the Sierra guides.

DAY TWO – Sat 2 June 2018
Marrakesh to Ait Bouli

Marrakesh sitting at the base of the Atlas Mountains means today’s ride has some vertical challenges. The natural bridge crossing at Imi n'Ifri at 1100m elevation is a real highlight. The mountain biking continues through small villages and fields of flowers creating a carpet of colour along the way.

The route continues via mountain roads to the red valley of Ait Bouli before finishing at 1700m elevation.

DAY THREE – Sunday 3 June 2018
Tarbat n'Tirsal

The main challenge for the day is the Tizi n'Tirghist pass. A fantastic ascent where at the summit there is time to admire the famous cave engravings. The ride moves through the Ait Bougmez valley where our Berber team is from. We cross several beautiful villages through ‘Happy Valley’ which are rich in traditional architecture.

The cycling also passes an old granary which was used by desert Berber caravaners. Tonight is a treat camping on the banks of the Oulillmt River.

DAY FOUR – Monday 4 June 2018
Berber Villages

After the physical effort of the initial days this comfortable ride along the river and through Uzighimt Valley will be very popular! The route crosses a string of Berber villages, including, El Morabitine, Ighrem Izderne and Wawchki.

The chance to meet the local inhabitants of the valley, see the women with their skillfully arranged hair and unique costumes will set the Central High Atlas region apart from any other region you have ever visited before!

DAY FIVE – Tuesday 5 June 2018
Hike the Atlas Mountains

After three consecutive days on the bike the chance for a special one day trek in the heart of the M'goun is sure to impress. Remember to pack some suitable shoes for the river crossings and spectacular narrow gorges. As we exit Achaabou Gorge there will be a lunch stop in Moh with an excellent mint tea.

After lunch the walk continues and there is always time stomping through the water as we head towards Imi N Taghia passing by the Laasker canyon. Tonight we set up camp in the village of Aguerzaga alongside the river edge.

DAY SIX – Wed 6 June 2018
Valley of the Roses

Following the M’goun River the scenery changes today as the terraced fields and orchards come into view. We will enjoy a lunch stop along the river before crossing a number of fortified villages. Every April the fields in this region are alive with roses and the Feast of Roses is a cultural event held during the first week of May.

DAY SEVEN – Thur 7 June 2018

The final day of cycling passes through the Skoura Palm Groves and onto Ouarzazate the Gateway to the Sahara Desert! Along the way there are visits to the Valley of Dades with its spectacular road known as the ‘Way of the 1000 Kasbahs’.

One of the most interesting kasbahs is Ait-ben-Haddou which has been used as a movie set for many famous films including Lawrence of Arabia, the Jewel of the Nile and Gladiator.

Ouarzazate (Hotel style)

DAY EIGHT – Friday 8 June 2018
Tizi n’Tichka Pass

This morning there is a 300km transfer from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh. The highlight of the the day is the views from the Tizi n’Tichka pass. It reaches 2260m elevation and is the highest major mountain pass in northern Africa!  There will be several stops along the drive for lunch and a special visit to a woman’s Argan Oil co-operative.

Back in Marrakesh and we will send you off with a lively Arabian Nights dinner and horse show!

DAY NINE – Sat 9 June 2018
Tour Farewell

Following breakfast we will be available to transfer you to Marrakesh Menara Airport by 10:00am. We hope you have enjoyed your time in Morocco! The hospitality shown by the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains is sure to be something you will never forget!

A wonderful holiday awaits those looking for a truly ´off the beaten track´ adventure. Starting in the vibrant Marrakesh markets, passing the High Atlas Mountains, camping under the stars alongside the native Berbers plus a one day hike through secret gorges makes for a truly once in a lifetime experience.

This mountain bike cycling tour is for riders of all levels as it does not include any technical single tracks or hair raising descents. The idea is to enjoy the scenery, landscapes, Berber villages and its people, customs and cuisine while expending some energy moving from Point A to B. The tour arrives to some remote locations so during four nights we will set-up camp for a real outdoor adventure.

This is an all inclusive tour in that every meal is provided and you will be carb loaded with endless supplies of couscous, vegetables and salads. Let the spices cumin, turmeric and saffron blend with the argan oil and dried fruits to provide delicious treats! Top everything off with a refreshing green tea with mint and your day is well and truly complete!
